Welcome to this month's Newsletter,

It is hard to believe that we are in Spring already. This month we look to review a very successful AWISA show. Also in this month's newsletter, we feature our membership with ASOFIA, Variety WA Trans Australia Bash and one of our growing customers.

AWISA 2014 - What a show

AWISA 2014 certainly lived up to the hype and with over 5000 people visiting the show, it was a great success. The Planit stand was busy as usual across the 4 days and people certainly got into the bowling theme.

Brisbane was a new location for AWISA, and definitely lived up to its name as the ‘Sunshine State’, with beautiful weather covering all 4 days and bringing a range of visitors - 49% of which were from interstate. It was a good chance for some local Queensland visitors to experience the AWISA show for the first time in their own state. Garry Thoroughgood (QLD Territory Manager) has shared that since the show, “Queensland has certainly been full of enthusiasm and activity, AWISA has definitely been a big boost to the industry up here”.

Vortek at AWISAVortek was another big focal point of the Planit stand catching a lot of visitors/exhibitors attention and drawing in big crowds over the 4 days, allowing everyone to have a go at the new software and learn about this new 3D technology. We even had a neighbouring exhibitor comment that he had customers miss his stand because they were too busy checking out Vortek.
5pm Drinks at Planit
Planit encouraged a lot of new and existing customers to hang around until 5pm and enjoy some social drinks and nibbles and have a chance to win a mini IPad each day at Planit’s Virtual Bowling Alley. Each night people had their go at trying to knock down as many pins as they could, whilst sharing a drink w
ith others in the industry. The Planit stand was full of activity, with plenty of people wanting to catch up.

Gabbett's RacecarOne of the common topics of conversations across the show was the 5 axis technology on display. In particular there was Biesse’s Wooden Crown and Gabbet’s ‘Race Car’, both being machined live during the show. The technological advancements certainly have come a long way since the first CNC’s. It certainly also opened up topics of conversation of the 5 axis work that can be done through Alphacam. Capable of handling those unique jobs, including 5 axis projects, Alphacam certainly had people interested in how this technology would open new opportunities for them.

Planit really enjoyed the AWISA show, as always an important part of our calendar. Thank-you to everyone that came and stopped past our stand. Click on the video below to view some highlights of the show. If you didn’t make it to this show make sure you put AWISA 2016 on your to do list.

The convoy stopped at various towns along the way, holding local community events at schools and community centres. The event raises much needed funds to support the work the Variety Children’s Charity does in Western Australia. This year, Car 44 crew were excited to announce that they had raised over $25,000 through their fundraising efforts. Planit are excited to be supporting Car 44 and their efforts. Steve Cugley (General Manager) had the opportunity to go and check out the cars at Moore Park in Sydney before they left.
